Edumate ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application, Edumate (the "App"). The App is an educational platform that allows users to participate in classes, chat with other users within their class, and upload files such as documents or images. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at mubashirpa2002@gmail.com.
We collect information to provide and improve the App’s functionality, deliver educational services, and comply with legal obligations. The types of information we collect include:
Personal Information: When you create an account or sign in, we may collect your email address, name, and user ID through authentication providers like Google Sign-In or our backend service, Supabase.
Messages: When you use the chat feature to communicate with other users within your class, we collect the messages you send to facilitate these interactions.
User-Generated Content: If you choose to upload files (e.g., PDFs, images, or other documents) or create content (e.g., notes, quiz answers), we store this content to provide the App’s features. File uploads are optional and not required to use the App.
Other User-Generated Content: You may create additional content, such as quiz responses or notes, as part of the App’s educational features.
App Activity: We collect data about how you interact with the App, such as screen views, button clicks (e.g., sending a message, uploading a file), and other actions (e.g., completing a quiz, interacting with notifications), to improve the App’s performance and user experience.
App Info and Performance: We collect crash logs and diagnostic data to identify and fix issues in the App.
Device or Other IDs: We collect device identifiers (e.g., device ID, advertising ID) to deliver push notifications and analyze usage patterns.
Approximate Location: We collect approximate location data (e.g., city or region, derived from your IP address) through our analytics service to understand user demographics and improve the App’s performance. This data is not used to identify you personally.
Authentication Providers: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google, subject to their privacy policies.
Push Notifications: Our push notification provider, OneSignal, collects device identifiers to deliver notifications.
We use your information for the following purposes:
App Functionality: To authenticate your account, enable class-based chat, store uploaded files or other user-generated content, and provide educational features like quizzes, notes, or collaborative tools.
Analytics: To understand how users interact with the App, improve its performance, and develop new features.
Push Notifications: To send you updates, reminders, or class-related notifications (you can opt out of non-essential notifications in the App settings).
Crash Reporting: To diagnose and fix technical issues.
Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, such as responding to legal requests or ensuring children’s privacy under COPPA.
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: We use trusted third-party providers to deliver the App’s features:
Supabase: Manages authentication, chat functionality, file storage, and real-time features. Supabase may process your email, name, user ID, messages, uploaded files, or other user-generated content.
Google: Processes authentication data (email, name) when you sign in with Google.
Firebase: Collects analytics (app activity, device IDs) and crash logs to improve the App.
OneSignal: Uses device identifiers to deliver push notifications.
With Other Users: Messages you send in class-based chats are shared with other users in the same class to enable communication. User-generated content (e.g., notes) may be shared with other users if you choose to collaborate within the App.
Legal Obligations: We may share information to comply with legal requirements, protect our rights, or respond to lawful requests (e.g., from law enforcement).
Business Transfers: If Edumate is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers (or third-party servers) is encrypted using secure protocols (e.g., HTTPS, TLS).
Access Controls: We limit access to your information to authorized personnel only.
Third-Party Security: Our service providers (e.g., Supabase, Firebase) follow industry-standard security practices.
Despite these measures, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You have control over your information:

Chat and Content: You can choose whether to participate in chats or upload files. These features are optional.
Push Notifications: You can opt out of non-essential notifications in the App or your device settings.
Data Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data (e.g., email, messages, uploaded files, or other content) by contacting us at mubashirpa2002@gmail.com or using the in-app deletion option (if available). We will process deletion requests within 30 days, subject to legal obligations.
